• Precise injection of diesel fuel enables optimal combustion, engine performance and fuel consumption.

  The injection system plays a vital role for the performance, fuel consumption and emissions of a diesel engine: It makes sure that the diesel fuel is injected into the combustion chamber of each cylinder – with extreme precision and under pressure of up to 2000 bar. While older engine generations with mechanical injection use in-line or individual injection pumps and mechanical injectors, modern DEUTZ engines make use of the DEUTZ Common Rail system (DCR®) with electronic injection. The trend towards increasing injection pressures and strict emission regulations places highest demands on quality, performance and reliability of all components that are part of the fuel injection system.

  FUEL FEED PUMPS

  

  The feed pump´s job is to transport the diesel fuel to the injection pump with the required pressure. For optimum fuel supply, flow and pressure must be matched exactly to the engine and the injection system. Low manufacturing tolerances ensure a high efficiency of the pump.

  In common rail systems, the high-pressure injection pump generates the enormous injection pressure of up to 2000 bar – which results in highest demands on both material and production quality of this engine component. The design of the DEUTZ Common Rail System´s individual plug-in pump allows for easy replacement, making the DCR® a cost-saving and service-friendly system. When replacing the injection pumps of mechanical injection systems, your DEUTZ service partner is happy to perform the necessary adjustments and calibration.

  INJECTION VALVE / INJECTOR

  

  The injectors – consisting of the injector and the injection valve spray high-precision dosages of fuel into the combustion chamber. In modern common rail engines, multiple injections take place within micro-seconds, with up to five injection cycles per combustion. To ensure this extremely accurate dosing, each injector is precisely matched to its cylinder and needs to be calibrated in the engine’s control unit – a task your DEUTZ service partner is happy to perform. High-precision nozzles manufactured by hydro-erosive grinding and high quality seals allow for increased service life, while injectors are available separately in case that replacement is required.
